Steelecounty is a country band on a mission. Within the first 2 years of performing live, they have had the honor of sharing the stage with the likes of Earl Scruggs & Family, Connie Smith, Mickey Gilley, and South Mountain, after winning the Havelock Country Music Talent Contest, and earning a spot on the big stage, at the 19th annual Havelock Country Jamboree. This would be the band’s second big stage opportunity, previously performing at the Fergus Truck Show a month earlier, sharing the stage with Canadian recording artists Aaron Pritchett, Gord Bamford, and Jessie Farrell. In 2009, the momentum continues to roll. Steelecounty perform their first shows south of the border in Wisconsin and Michigan, and have their original music aired on WYKX 104.7 in Escanaba. The band then made a return appearance to the Fergus Truck Show this summer, opening for Adam Gregory, and Terri Clark. Most recently, Steelecounty have become regional finalists in the Colgate Country Showdown. In its 28th year, it’s the largest Country Music Talent Search Contest in America. Steelecounty members consist of Ryan Stead (lead vocals, banjo, electric, slide), his father Sterling Stead (vocals, fiddle, keys, acoustic, sax), Tom Graham (lead guitar, pedal steel), Kevin Sommerville (vocals, drums), and Brad James (vocals, bass). Ryan & Sterling have also composed music, which was placed in the movie “Tornado Warning”. The movie is currently airing across Canada, and the United States. Steelecounty is now working on its debut album, looking to release in 2010.
